I've been busy doing.... stuff. So I am going to steal JamFla's idea and just post about my week because I haven't been updating because I can't think of anything to post. We shall start with Monday.

one step closer... to nowhere
So as of yesterday I am officially done with my interviews for my thesis. I am done collecting data! Now I just have to analyze it and write about it. I still have to finish transcribing the interviews but that shouldn’t take too long because I actually enjoy doing that a little bit. I then have to start coding the interviews and pulling out themes and topics that are discussed within the interviews. After that I will have to write, revise, and rewrite (probably 10 times) the Methods, Results, and Conclusion sections of my thesis. Then I defend it and I’m done! Now that I type it out it kind of seems like quite a lot to do still, but at least getting the interviews done allows me to cross one more thing of my “thesis to-do” list.
I am officially not going to graduate until August or maybe even December, but I will be done way before I get my actual diploma, so I need to start applying for jobs. As of now I am going to go back to Fort Madison at the beginning of May and work at Halls for the summer to make some money and start saving for a move somewhere else or a motorcycle (whichever tickles my fancy). But I also want to start applying for real jobs right away and hopefully get my foot in the door.
I have two main dilemmas. 1) I’m not exactly sure which types of jobs I should be applying for. However this dilemma is easily remedied by the fact that I’m going to just apply for anything I am qualified for because I just want to get a job (with any luck it will be one with health insurance!) Plus when I was talking about how I like transcribing, I think that I am going to try to work for a couple years and make money and all that, and then apply to an online program to be a Court Reporter. I really think I would like that job and they make pretty decent money and you can do the degree online in 2 years.
My second dilemma – Where should I live/look for jobs? I have realized in the past couple of years that I don’t think I am a big city girl like I once though. I really do like Fort Madison and the small town atmosphere. I like that I don’t have to plan an extra hour or two into travel time for simple tasks and errands like you have to do in places like Chicago. I also like the fact that my family is in Fort Madison. I am also not sure if I could move somewhere that I don’t know anyone. But the biggest problem with staying in FM is that I am not confident that I will find a guy there. This could be untrue, but I feel like I’ve met everyone there and I just don’t feel that anyone there is right for me. Hopefully I’m wrong! But I don’t want to settle for someone that is less than what I want or deserve just for the sake of staying in my comfort zone in FM. So I am perplexed. What should I do?

the right stuff

So I attended the New Kids on the Block concert in Moline, Illinois on April 2nd, 2009 which started at approximately 7:30 p.m! I did not write about this glorious event in my life until now because I knew that Dru and Jam were going to the same concert last night in Des Moines and I didn't want to spoil any part of the experience.
I distinctly remember the night when I was home in FM and my friend Nissa and I were out at the bar and she got excited and mentioned that NKOTB were going to be playing close to us and we should go. I immediately agreed with her! She ended up getting the tickets a couple weeks later. When I asked her how much the tickets were she said around $60. I remember thinking to myself that that was quite a bit of money, being as I don't have any form of income this semester and I used to be an avid rock concert goer and the average price of rock concert tickets is usually less than $35. She told me she could find someone else to go to the concert, but I sucked it up and forked over the $75 (there are always hidden surcharges and fees added to the price of the ticket).
So last Thursday we headed to Davenport at about 1:30 in the afternoon. We also went with two other girls, one is married to the brother of one of my friends and the other girl I had met once briefly but did not really remember that well. We decided to stop and eat at Hooter's before the concert. After that we still had time to kill so we went to the mall for about an hour. We then headed over the bridge to the concert. I was curious to see what the crowd was going to be like. It was just how I expected, 90% of the crowd was women, 9% were little girls, and 1% were gay guys. I think I saw about 10 straight guys at the whole concert.
The Jabbawokeez opened up for the New Kids. I thought this was a brilliant idea. They were highly entertaining but didn't drag on too long, and the tear down and set up time betweeen them and NKOTB was minimal because there were not instruments and what not to be moved and taken down.
When the lights went back down for New Kids I seriously felt like I was 9 years old again. I was so excited and giddy it was ridiculous! So here are my overall observations and critiques of the concert:
1. It was amazing! I had such a blast it was ridiculous!
2. I was so excited at how many of their old songs they played! I figured most of the music would be from the new album.
3. I loved how they did the original dance moves too!
4. Danny is ripped!
5. Jon didn't really seem like he wanted to be there.
6. Joey and Jordan still got it!
7. The concert only solidified my choice as a young girl.... I am STILL in love with Donnie! I remember when I was little that everyone was always in love with Jordan.. but I was then and still am a sucker for the bad boy of the group.

9. I was going to get a Donnie button when the show ended but all they had left was Jordan, Jon, or Danny :(
10. All in all the concert was amazing and I had a blast. Before the concert I had had a rough week of drinking and a sore throat, so half way through the concert I literally couldn't talk at all!

google yourself
I am just using the very first one that comes up.
1. Google "[your name] needs":
"ALLISON NEEDS TO GET LAID."
How true this one is!!
2. Google "[your name] looks like":
"ALLISON JUST LOOKS LIKE SHE IS TRYING TOO HARD TO BE COOL."
This is also true... I do try extremely hard to fit in and be cool.
3. Google "[your name] likes":
"ALLISON LIKES TO WATCH MOVIES AND TELL PEOPLE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THEM"
I love to watch movies, I don't usually over analyze them though.
4. Google "[your name] says":
"ALLISON SAYS THERE'S A REASON THAT YOU'RE NEVER HOME"
Probably because you hate me... whoever you are.
5. Google "[your name] wants":
"ALLISON WANTS TO KNOW."
I do tend to want to know things.
6. Google "[your name] does":
"I LOVE WHEN ALLISON DOES "FEELINGS" BY THREE ERIN."
I don't know that song but I could try to do it karaoke style when I'm wasted or something.
7. Google "[your name] hates":
"ALLISON HATES IT"
I don't know what "it" they were referring to, but I probably do hate it.
8. Google "[your name] can":
"HOW ALLISON CAN SURVIVE. WELL, SHE CAN'T."
I'm starting to notice a pattern of hatred to people with the name Allison.
9. Google "[your name] goes":
"AND EVERYONE KNOWS THAT ALLISON GOES TO SLEEP ALONE TONIGHT"
You know what? It's true... but F you google.
10. Google "[your name] is":
"ALLISON IS UGLY"
This is starting to hurt my feelings.
11. Google "[your name] loves"
"ALLISON LOVES FINE JEWELRY"
That's true.
Alright those answers didn't really make me mad... but I just did this cause I was bored... sorry if you read the whole thing and were bored!

flat tire... not to be confused with the delicious beverage known as fat tire

So i got out of my car on Tuesday night, after making the long journey around the block. I only drove my car so that I could switch parking from one side of the road to the other (which I have to do EVERY night) so that I wouldn't get a parking ticket. As I'm pulling up to the curb I feel and hear my car run over something. I get out and go around the passenger side to make sure my tires are okay.... They arent. I could hear the air gushing out of the front passenger tire and see a huge piece of glass sticking out the top of it.... oops. It was about 9 at night so I just let my car sit there and prepared to have a flat tire in the morning and deal with it then. I haven't changed a tired since I was in high school so I was nervous. Luckily Derek helped me yesterday. So we put the sweet donut in place of the slashed tire and I headed off to Wal-Mart. I had contacted my dad because I figured I would have to buy a new tire and I have never done that before. I've gotten my tire repaired for slow leaks plenty of times but never a hole that the air gushed out of like this, so I figured the hole would be too big to patch. So I talked to my dad and he told me to buy 2 tires instead of one, he never buys just one tire, which I figured was going to run me at least $200. I went to Wal-Mart and luckily the totally patched it for $10.17 and it's good as new! I was so excited because I thought I was going to be even more broke than I already was. Yay for Wal-Mart and for Derek helping me change my tire! AND for my dad telling me after I got it repaired that he had planned on paying for the 2 new tires anyway if I needed to get them!

my day
8:39 a.m. - Derek pounds on my door and tells me to wake up, because I asked him to do this so that I would be somewhat productive today.
10:44 a.m. - My cell phone rings the Bad Boys theme song and wakes me up.. It is my sister's friend who is calling so I am confused, yet I don't answer.
10:47 a.m. - I go pee then look at the two monsterous zits that have grown on my face over night.
10:51 a.m. - I sit down in the chair and use my new fleece tie blanket that i made myself over Xmas break! I turn on the Tv and listen to Real Chance of Love while checking Facebook/Myspace/Email.
10:59 a.m - Played Text Twist for a while
11:43 a.m. - Went to the bathroom (#2)
11:51 a.m. - Ate a banana
11:52 a.m. - Started talking to my sister on facebook chat
12:12 p.m. - I answered the door and a cute guy asked if i knew who owned the green pickup truck outside.. i told him i had no clue
1:01 pm - Answered the knock at the door. Package for myself and Derek, my package included the USB drive that I accidentally left at my mom's house over break
1:07 p.m - I realize that my USB is now here and I have no more excuses to not be productive today.
1:16 p.m. - I had a cigarette outside while wearing shorts, and its negative 10 degrees out... that was a bad idea. but this pack of cigarettes is my last pack!!!
2:12 p.m. - I emailed the Chief of Police in Burlington, Iowa to check up on his progress with the letter of cooperation he was supposed to send to UNI about a month and a half ago.
3:14 p.m. - I head to the gym with Derek to get yelled at by him so he can get me in shape. (Derek has started a new work out program and is helping me get passed my weight loss plateau that I am at right now.. he is a Nazi and is making do a low carb diet too)
5:16 p.m. - Return home from workout.
5:37 p.m. - Ate chicken noodle soup, chicken, and peanuts for dinner with some orange juice.
5:38 p.m. - Started watching Sixteen Candles on TV while eating my din din.
6:58 p.m. - Hopped in the shower when Sixteen Candles was over.
7:16 p.m. - Started watching the premier of American Idol
8:00 p.m. - Called my mamacita and talked to her for about 15 minutes.
8:49 p.m. - Derek came back from the library, so now I have a real life person to converse with again.
8:51 p.m. - I DVR'ed Sixteen Candles for Derek because he has never seen it, so now I am going to watch the end again, then I will probably read while laying in bed and watching Sex in the City and start my snoozing. (p.s. Chief Luttenegger has not replied to my email yet)
Alright... the explanation for this post is that I haven't updated my blog in so long because I feel like I have nothing to blog about because my life is so boring. And when it isn't boring it seems like lately only dumb things have happened that I feel I would be complaining about. But after talking to JamFla I've come to the realization that it is my blog and I shouldn't worry about whining too much, I should just write about whatever I want to write about... so today I gave you the really boring play by play of my day!!
